About
My name is Céline Combes, and I am a full-time professional artist based in France (Pessac).
I discovered card alteration through my husband, who occasionally plays Magic: The Gathering, and I immediately fell in love with the visuals and the creative process of transforming existing images into unique miniature artworks.
I work from my own sketches and paint exclusively with acrylics. My practice focuses on landscapes, creatures, atmosphere, and storytelling. Whether on altered cards or on unexpected supports such as dollar bills, I explore how a familiar object can become a living landscape through colour, gesture, and subtle signs of life.
Each piece is hand-painted and unique, extending or reinterpreting the original image while preserving its emotional core and nostalgic power.
A few personal notes
I paint every day in my small studio in France, often with my cat Meggy curled up beside me while I work.
I practiced taiji and qigong for many years, and now enjoy yin yoga and quiet walks, which help me stay grounded, attentive, and inspired.
I also studied fine arts and applied arts, studies that continue to shape my approach to colour, composition, and balance.
